Here is the open thread for Sunday, March 27th. Please feel free to post links to interesting articles and to discuss whatever issues arise during the course of the day. Nothing is off-topic here.
Last week we covered 9 stories, did you miss any of them? If so there is an easy way to make sure it does not happen again. I understand that all of you are busy and cannot always find the time to check the blog for updates so why not subscribe to America’s Watchtower and receive email updates whenever I write a new post? Firewall with Bill Whittle: ‘American Fascists’
Bill Whittle is back! It has been awhile since we have heard from Bill Whittle but his latest Firewall video entitled “American Fascists” does not disappoint. Mr. Whittle is not a big fan of Donald Trump but in this video he talks about how the protests we are now seeing are not about Donald Trump but rather about stifling opposing views through intimidation.
This is something I alluded to in last week’s open thread when I said: “First they come out and start talking about how Donald Trump’s rhetoric is inciting violence through his campaign rhetoric even though this has not been the case and this has caused people to take to the streets in protest. Then people like George Soros get behind the protests by funding them. This culminated yesterday when protesters blocked the streets to a Trump rally denying people from attending the rally. The end game here is to cause a reaction by Trump supporters, and in their minds they hope it will be a violent reaction so their self-fulfilling prophesy will come true and they can point to Donald Trump as the cause.”
Bill Whittle reinforces my statement with this video. You guys are going to love this one I think, but the left will call it hateful and hate speech but ironically if they do it will prove his point.

Before I headed off to work this morning I quickly read a story about how Hillary Clinton was poised to sweep the three Democratic contests today and for all intents and purposes put an end to Bernie Sanders’s hopes at becoming President. But that was not to be…
CNN is reporting that Bernie Sanders has won the first two states–Washington and Alaska–and the results were not even close. As I write this Bernie Sanders has nearly 80% of the vote in Alaska and he has over 75% of the vote in Washington.
From what I understand all of the Democratic contests award the delegates proportionally, none are winner take all, so it is going to be hard for Bernie Sanders to catch Hillary Clinton at this point. But I think this does show us that a good proportion of the Democratic voters are not as enamored with the former Secretary of State as the party would have the American people believe.
Up next is Hawaii, one of Barack Obama’s home states, so it will be interesting to see if Bernie Sanders can continue his dominance today or if Hillary Clinton can rebound.

Not that this is going to matter at this point but newly found emails contradict Hillary Clinton’s sworn testimony that she turned over all of her official State Department emails as requested. These new emails also destroy her narrative that she did not begin using her personal email server to conduct State Department business until March of 2009.

Judicial Watch announced today that it has obtained State Department documents from February 2009 containing emails that appear to contradict statements by former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton that, “as far as she knew,” all of her government emails were turned over to the State Department and that she did not use her clintonemail.com email system until March 2009.
On February 13, 2009, Cheryl Mills (Clinton’s then-chief of staff) sent Clinton an email describing efforts by the National Security Agency to address demands for a secure Blackberry:
In meeting with the NSA person today ([Redacted] NSA’s rep to DOS) – she indicated they could address our BB so that BB could work in the sciff [Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility] and be secure based upon some modifications that could be done to each BB (more below).
Mills attaches an email from an unnamed NSA official that reports:
Debbie Plunkett, D/Chief of our Information Assurance Directorate, is personally assembling a knowledgeable team to work with you and other members of your staff to move forward on your Blackberry requirement. She will engage State’s CIO and DS/comms security folks to ensure everyone is aware of the art of the possible … I am confident we can get to YES on this! [Emphasis in original]
That same day, on February 13 at 12:33 pm Hillary Clinton, using her unsecured hdr22@clintonemail.com account responds, “That’s good news.”
Bernie Sanders files lawsuit against the DNC
They say that time heals all wounds but apparently that is not always the case. Back in the middle of December there was a little rift between Bernie Sanders, Hillary Clinton and the DNC: Bernie Sanders, possibly having learned this technique from the IRS, illegally accessed Hillary Clinton’s campaign data.
As punishment the DNC suspended his campaign access to the party’s national voter database which led the Senator from Vermont to threaten to sue the DNC. The DNC eventually backed down but Bernie Sanders was still not happy and he claimed the DNC actually planted a mole in his campaign for the purpose of bringing the him down.
All had been quiet on this front since December but now with the prospects of him pulling off and upset in the Democratic primary dwindling, in part because of the way the DNC allots the superdelegates, Bernie Sanders has rekindled the battle.
According to this story Bernie Sanders has officially filed a lawsuit against the DNC.
It has been a looooong time since we have had an update on the IRS’s targeting scandal but, according to this story, a Federal appeals court has rebuked both the IRS for the scandal and the Injustice Department for not acting in good faith during the investigation. Here is more:
A federal appeals court spanked the IRS Tuesday, saying it has taken laws designed to protect taxpayers from the government and turned them on their head, using them to try to protect the tax agency from the very tea party groups it targeted.
The judges also accused the Justice Department lawyers, who are representing the IRS in the case, of acting in bad faith — compounding the initial targeting — by fighting the disclosure.
“The lawyers in the Department of Justice have a long and storied tradition of defending the nation’s interests and enforcing its laws — all of them, not just selective ones — in a manner worthy of the Department’s name. The conduct of the IRS’s attorneys in the district court falls outside that tradition,” Judge Raymond Kethledge wrote in a unanimous opinion for a three-judge panel of the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals. “We expect that the IRS will do better going forward.”
Donald Trump wins Arizona, Ted Cruz wins Utah
We had a split decision last night in Arizona and Utah.
Donald Trump dominated the field in Arizona, winning nearly 50% of the vote. Ted Cruz was well behind at 25%, followed by John Kasich with 10% of the vote. While in Utah the results were quite the opposite: Ted Cruz destroyed the competition with almost 70% of the votes tallied, with John Kasich barely beating Donald Trump for second place by a 17-14% margin.
Arizona is a winner take all state so Donald Trump was awarded all 58 delegates and because Ted Cruz got over 50% of the vote in Utah he won all 40 delegates in that state. Which of course means John Kasich got nothing.
As I write this the votes are still being counted so the total percentages may change but it will not change the domination each winning candidate showed, nor will it change the fact that john Kasich no longer should be in this race. I am sure John Kasich will point to his second place finish in Utah as justification for staying in the race but at only 17% it is one of those Marco Rubio type second place victories which amounted to nothing and we all know where the Senator from Florida is right now…

One of Bernie Sanders’s favorite topics is climate change; in fact he is probably the leading advocate for cap and trade restrictions in the Presidential race, running to the left of even Hillary Clinton on this issue. After a Republican debate which focused solely on foreign policy Bernie Sanders lamented the fact that not one Republican candidate even mentioned global warming, apparently forgetting (or ignoring) that this was not the topic of the debate.
However Bernie Sanders is not quite living up to the same standards he wishes to impose on the American people because according to this story he spent almost $2 million on private jets in the month of February alone.
But he’s getting a taste for the good life, too: Sanders’s campaign spent $1.65 million on private jets in February.
Racist Bill Clinton slams Barack Obama’s ‘awful legacy’
In a speech today given by Bill Clinton which was naturally designed to convince voters to support Hillary Clinton in the upcoming election he talked about the “awful legacy” of the last eight years. Of course his supporters will claim the former President was referring to the Republican-led Congress for being the party of no and was not referring to Barack Obama. I disagree and will state my case after you watch the video.
Utah is holding its caucuses on Tuesday and according to this story Ted Cruz has a huge lead over John Kasich, with Donald Trump a very distant third.
Texas Sen. Ted Cruz has zoomed to a commanding lead in Utah’s GOP caucuses, according to a new poll released Saturday. It also gave a glimpse into how frustrated the state’s Republicans are with Donald Trump’s candidacy.
The Y2 Analytics survey shows Cruz with 53 percent support among likely Republican caucus-goes and if that matches Tuesday’s caucus vote, he’d win all of the state’s 40 GOP delegates.
Coming in second is Ohio Gov. John Kasich with 29 percent, while Trump, the national front-runner, was a distant third at 11 percent.
Utah has a little bit of a different system when it comes to allotting delegates to the convention: if a candidate wins 50% of the vote or more he wins all the delegates but if no candidate earns 50% of the vote the delegates are awarded proportionally.
