Experts under fire for releasing a report which claims the global warming models are wrong
A new global warming report entitled “Why Models Run Hot: Results from An Irreducibly Simple Climate Model” which was coauthored by four experts is now calling into question the models which are being used to predict global warming.

Dr. Briggs, who has a Ph.D. in mathematical statistics from Cornell, was assistant editor for the Monthly Weather Review, and is widely published on matters concerning climate. He explained that for decades “the computer climate models on which the IPCC and others rely, make forecasts where the temperature will be way up there. But, the reality is the temperature has been way down here. So these models are running hot!”
The reason that the models are running hot is based on a “firm scientific principle,” says Briggs. “If a model is making bad predictions, which these climate models are, the theory that underlies them must be wrong. So these models must be wrong.”
Briggs explained that atmospheric reaction to carbon dioxide, known as climate sensitivity, is probably too high for these models. “If you take this climate sensitivity model and tone it down, you get a much closer match to reality.” He contends that the computer models are overcompensating for the addition of CO2’s to the atmosphere.

In the last couple of weeks there have been some reports which allege NASA has been “adjusting” some temperatures from bygone years in order to make it appear as if the earth is warming when in fact it might not be. Some of these “adjustments” have been called “breathtaking.” I meant to do a post on this issue but I never got around to it.
Here is some more background on this:
We have written many times about the fact that the scientific agencies which are keepers of the world’s historical temperature data are all, or nearly all, under the control of warmists. These warmists have systematically altered historic temperature records, so that the temperatures they report today for past eras are not the same as what were measured, say, 70 or 80 years ago. The effect of these adjustments is strikingly consistent: they almost always make the past look cooler than it was measured at the time, so that the present looks warmer by comparison. The opposite–an adjustment that results in reporting a historic temperature higher than what was published contemporaneously–never, or almost never, happens. These adjustments may or may not be explained; sometimes, they are kept quiet until someone stumbles across the original data and points out a discrepancy.

In addition to a lack of motivation and what I consider to be a lack of interesting topics to write about I was also distracted for the last few days with my new laptop. I only use the computer for the internet and for simple word processing so I have little need for all of the bells and whistles others are interested in. Because of this I prefer a netbook to a full-blown laptop; I love the small size and the fact it is dedicated to my needs.
For the last several years I have been blogging using an Acer Aspire One D260 Netbook but it was getting old and the performance of late has been severely lacking. Normal internet browsing and blogging had become painfully slow despite my best efforts to clean up the computer and make it manageable.
I decided it was time to buy a new Acer netbook and I thought it would be very inexpensive due to the popularity of new technology such as tablets. However I soon learned that the price to be paid by this new technology was the discontinuation of the netbook. It was simply obsolete technology and nobody was interested in it any more.
However, I found a compromise between purchasing a full sized laptop and the netbook and that came in the form of the Dell Inspiron 11.6″ notebook 2-1 computer. This computer functions as a combination of a small laptop and a tablet. It is a laptop but the display can rotate completely around for use as a tablet. I am in love! Blogging and browsing is going to be much less frustrating going forward. (Save the frustration of following politics in general.)
This computer is slightly larger than my previous netbook yet smaller than a laptop and it is much faster than what I have been dealing with for awhile now. To make a long story short (if that is possible at this point) I have spent the last few days trying to personalize my new computer to my liking by deleting all the crap which came with it that I will never use as well as making it look and function the way I want it to. I have also been trying to get used to Windows 8.1, and now that I am figuring out how it works I have to say the new Windows is pretty cool once you get passed the differences from Windows 7.
With my long-winded excuse for not posting as much as I would have liked to last week out of the way it is time to move on to the musical selection of the week. This week I give you the band Primus performing “Pudding Time” live on the Jimmy Kimmel Show.

The Obama regime is ‘reconsidering’ the Afghanistan withdrawal timetable
In a much-hyped event in the Rose Garden in May of 2014 Barack Obama committed to the withdrawal of combat troops in Afghanistan by the end of 2016. I happen to agree with this: in my opinion it is time to get out of the region and it is time to let the various factions figure out their future on their own without the further loss of American lives.
However, despite Barack Obama’s much ballyhooed announcement, we are now learning, according to this story, that his new Defense Secretary, Ashton Carter, is working on a plan to extend the United States’ presence in the region beyond the 2016 timeline.

Obamacare: 800,000 people received incorrect tax forms from Health and Human Services
It is now tax season and as people begin to prepare to file their tax returns those who have signed up for Obamacare, and who have received subsidies, received a new tax form from the Department of Health and Human Services. Unfortunately 800,000 people (20% of those who signed up) received incorrect tax forms from HHS.

About 800,000 people received tax forms with incorrect information about their Obamacare coverage, officials from the Health and Human Services Department said Friday.
The errors occurred on a new form that helps Obamacare enrollees figure out whether they qualify for a subsidy that would pay all or part of their premiums, and how big that subsidy should be. Information used to calculate those subsidies was wrong on about 20 percent of tax forms, HHS officials said. The errors would cause some taxpayers to claim too large a subsidy and others to claim less than they’re actually eligible for.

Obamacare: the back end of the healthcare website is still not working
The Obama regime has had a year and a half, and has spent roughly $2 billion, to create the healthcare exchange website but according to this story the back end–arguably the most important part of the website–is still not complete.

The “back end” of the Obamacare website still isn’t properly wired to the health insurance companies. It’s slow going for health plans to make sure the 11.4 million people who have signed up end up in the right plan. Subsidy payments aren’t automated, so the insurers get payments based on estimates. And adding information like a marriage or the birth of a child is a convoluted, multi-step process.
Even though consumers had a largely smooth enrollment experience this year, the fact that these gaps persist behind the scenes 18 months after HealthCare.gov launched shows that the system is still not working as intended. Instead of a swift process, health plans use clunky workarounds and manual spreadsheets. It takes time and it costs money.
“You’re not going to find a lot of customer-facing issues,” one insurance industry official said. “It’s more like you lift up the hood, and that’s where the problems are.”
“All of these things, it’s sort of the cost of doing business right now. And it’s not cheap,” the insurance official added, referring to the ongoing administrative expenses of doing so much of it by hand.
The back end isn’t broken so much as it’s unfinished. It wasn’t constructed in time for it to be part of the botched website launch in the fall of 2013; one administration official told a congressional hearing that it was 40 percent incomplete. And it’s not totally done now, although it’s gotten closer.
Federal Judge temporarily blocks Barack Obama’s Executive immigration
26 states are in the process of suing the Obama regime over his Executive immigration and today a Texas Federal Judge temporarily blocked the implementation of the policy.

A federal judge in South Texas on Monday temporarily blocked President Barack Obama’s executive action on immigration, giving a coalition of 26 states time to pursue a lawsuit that aims to permanently stop the orders.
U.S. District Judge Andrew Hanen’s decision comes after a hearing in Brownsville in January and puts on hold Obama’s orders that could spare as many as five million people who are in the U.S. illegally from deportation.
Hanen wrote in a memorandum accompanying his order that the lawsuit should go forward and that without a preliminary injunction the states will “suffer irreparable harm in this case.”
“The genie would be impossible to put back into the bottle,” he wrote, adding that he agreed with the plaintiffs’ argument that legalizing the presence of millions of people is a “virtually irreversible” action.
The New York Times blamed Scott Walker for teacher layoffs which occurred before he was Governor
It looks like there is a real chance that Scott Walker will run for President in 2016. Because of this the New York Times ran a preemptive strike against the Wisconsin Governor in a hit piece in which Gail Collins blamed him for teacher layoffs which occurred in 2010.
There was just one small inconvenient problem with this story however–Scott Walker did not become Governor of the state until 2011, these layoffs happened before he was governor!

With the snow which is currently falling we have now received about 6 feet of snow here at the America’s Watchtower compound in the last 4 weeks. This has us all thinking about, and longing for, the warmer weather. (Where is that global warming when you need it?!)
