New NIPCC report admits that CO2 is not a pollutant
If you are around the same age as I am you may remember being taught in science class that humans breathed in oxygen and exhaled CO2. You may also remember being taught that plants breathed in this CO2 and released oxygen into the air. It was a naturally occurring cycle which was not only beneficial but necessary to sustain all life on the planet.
However if you are a member of the younger generations you have been taught something completely different: CO2 is a pollutant which is responsible for global warming and the impending doom which is about to befall the world if we do not take action to slow down CO2 emissions. Read more…
According to Darrell Issa, emails his office received last week suggest that Elijah Cummings many have colluded with the IRS. This story states that Darrell Issa is saying these emails may show that Elijah Cummings may have prompted the targeting of ‘True The Vote.’
House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman Darrell Issa, R-Calif., has accused the panel’s top Democrat of prompting the Internal Revenue Service in 2012 to target a conservative organization applying for non-profit status.
However, this National Review article states that the timing of the emails suggest that Elijah Cummings’s communications with the IRS lead one to believe it did not contribute to the IRS’s decision to target ‘True The Vote.’ Read more…
A new study has been released which shows that healthcare premiums are rising due to Obamacare:
Americans have recently been hit with some of the largest premium increases in years, according to a Morgan Stanley survey of insurance brokers.
The investment bank’s April survey of 148 brokers found that this quarter, the average premium increase for customers renewing an insurance plan is 12 percent in the small group market and 11 percent in the individual market, according to Forbes’ Scott Gottlieb.
The hikes — the largest in the past three years, according to Morgan Stanley’s quarterly reports — are “largely due to changes under the [Affordable Care Act],” analysts concluded. Rates have been growing increasingly fast throughout all of 2013, after a period of drops in 2012.
While insurers were hiking premiums since 2012 by smaller amounts, the lead-up to the Obamacare’s launch has seen the average rate at which premiums are growing fourfold.
Morgan Stanley’s results echo what consumers are already seeing: the Affordable Care Act’s intensive regulation of the insurance market is driving health care premiums up strikingly.
Eric Holder has a new idea which he calls a “common sense” gun control measure. This idea includes a “smart bracelet” which a gun owner would have to wear in order to fire his or her weapon. He bills this as a way to ensure only the lawful owner of a firearm could fire that weapon but it goes much deeper than that in my opinion.

If Brendan Eich cannot be CEO of Mozilla is Hillary Clinton disqualified from being president?
The controversy surrounding Brendan Eich’s departure as CEO of Mozilla took an interesting turn last week when prominent gay author, Andrew Sullivan, spoke out against the tactics used by gay marriage supporters.
Here is part of what he wrote on April 3rd:
Will he now be forced to walk through the streets in shame? Why not the stocks? The whole episode disgusts me – as it should disgust anyone interested in a tolerant and diverse society. If this is the gay rights movement today – hounding our opponents with a fanaticism more like the religious right than anyone else – then count me out. If we are about intimidating the free speech of others, we are no better than the anti-gay bullies who came before us.

Good Morning America uses Westboro Baptist Church footage during a report on former Mozilla CEO Brendan Eich
Last Thursday America’s Watchtower covered the story about Brendan Eich stepping down as CEO of Mozilla because he once donated to Proposition 8 in California.
That post focused on the first amendment because Brendan Eich was facing pressure to resign due to stating an opinion which is now considered to be politically incorrect. Today’s post will focus on media bias.

House Republicans drop their attempt at sneaking an amnesty amendment into the National Defense Authorization Act
A couple of days ago America’s Watchtower covered the House Republicans’ attempt at slipping an amnesty amendment into the NDAA. My biggest problem with what the Republicans were trying to do was not with the amendment itself but rather with the backhanded way the Republicans were trying to sneak this legislation through the Congress on an unrelated bill so there would be little to no debate on the issue.
I firmly believe that any and all amendments which are offered to a piece of legislation should be related to that legislation and something like this should either be brought up for a vote on its own merit or as part of a related bill.
It appears as though enough people have contacted the House Republicans and expressed the same opinion. Read more…
Mozilla CEO resigns due to gay marriage “controversy”
In the midst of a gay marriage controversy Brendan Eich has stepped down as CEO of Mozilla. What was the controversy? He had an opinion which is not considered to be politically correct. In other words be opposes gay marriage and donated to an anti-gay marriage group.
Mozilla Chief Executive Brendan Eich has stepped down, the company said on Thursday, after an online dating service urged a boycott of the company’s web browser because of a donation Eich made to opponents of gay marriage.
The software company came under fire for appointing Eich as CEO last month. In 2008, he gave money to oppose the legalization of gay marriage in California
To me the issue here is not whether or not gay marriage is right or wrong, it is not about whether you agree with gay marriage or you do not. To me this is much bigger than that for this is about free speech and the freedom a person has to express an opinion or to donate to a cause he believes in.
Because he had the gall to express a politically incorrect opinion and donate to a cause which is also politically incorrect in today’s day and age he is out of a job and I find this trend of stifling political opponents to be a very troubling trend.
At the same time, I am not saying that people do not have the right to boycott Mozilla if this is something they feel strongly about because I do the same, but that does not mean Mr. Eich has to conform with the despotism of public opinion–to quote Jonathan Stuart Mill in ‘On Liberty’– in order to make a living.
Scott Brown IS running for the Senate in New Hampshire
This should come as a surprise to nobody who has been paying attention but it appears as if next week Scott Brown will make it official, he is running for the Senate in New Hampshire in an attempt to unseat Democratic Senator Jeanne Shaheen.
If there was any doubt, the Granite Status has confirmed today that Scott Brown indeed is running for the U.S. Senate seat held by Jeanne Shaheen.
Brown has been telling Granite Staters and others that he intends to run and, as we reported on Sunday, he hopes to announce on or about April 9.
While it appears now that it won’t be that particular date, plans are being made, and the announcement is fully expected mid- to late next week.
The fix is in as the establishment in Washington has thrown its weight, and its money, behind the carpetbagging Scott Brown and it is going to take a true grassroots effort in order to ensure that New Hampshire is represented by both a true conservative and a true New Hampshirite. Read more…
