The Bob Menendez sex scandal and media bias
If you have been reading America’s Watchtower for any length of time you have heard me refer to the MSM as the propaganda arm of the Obama regime and there was never a more glaring example of what I mean than the story of Senator Bob Menendez, or should I say the none story because that is how the media has treated it from the beginning.
News first surfaced at The Daily Caller shortly before the election that Bob Menendez had been frequenting prostitutes in the Dominican Republic for years, this was an accusation which the Senator denied and the media instead of investigating and reporting on the scandal remained silent.
Gunrunner: Eric Holder and the House are close to a deal on Fast and Furious documents
Back in June of last year, with the Fast and Furious investigation apparently getting too close, a panicked Eric Holder ran to Barack Obama and begged him to seal the documents Darrell Issa had been seeking for over a year. Barack Obama took care of his friend by sealing the documents, the Congress voted to hold Eric Holder in Contempt, and a lawsuit was filed to force Barack Obama to release the subpoenaed documents which probably implicate Eric Holder and maybe even Barack Obama.
That is pretty much where we stand today in the Fast and Furious saga, but word is coming out now that Eric Holder and the House may be on the verge of a deal. A judge was set to hold a hearing on the documents next week, but according to this story both sides have asked for a delay in the hearing for two months. Read more…
Homeland Security to purchase 30 round magazines for assault weapons
Yesterday I wrote a post about Janet Napolitano and her Department of Homeland Security’s request for 7,000 assault weapons because they are considered to be great for self defense in close quarters. Yes, these are the same assault weapons that Barack Obama and Dianne Feinstein do not want the American people to own because they claim they are not used for self defense.
This post is more of an update to that last post because I missed the fact that the Department of Homeland Security is also seeking to purchase 30 round magazines for these 7,000 assault weapons.
Dianne Feinstein’s legislation exempts government officials from the assault weapons ban as well as the ban of high capacity magazines because apparently their lives are more valuable than our lives and it appears as if the Department of Homeland Security is ready to take full advantage of this exemption.
Their duplicity and hypocrisy as well as their elitism is on full display here and again one has to wonder whom the Department of Homeland Security is preparing to defend themselves against.
If assault weapons are truly evil then I can’t think of a more dangerous entity to own these weapons than the same federal government which does not trust its own people to own these weapons while they are stockpiling them themselves.
The backers of the assault weapons ban–Dianne Feinstein and Barack Obama to name two–like to claim that nobody needs these weapons for hunting or for personal defense, yet it has now come to light that Janet Napolitano is planning on having her Department of Homeland Security purchase 7,ooo assault rifles for just such a reason.
The Department of Homeland Security is seeking to acquire 7,000 5.56x45mm NATO “personal defense weapons” (PDW) — also known as “assault weapons” when owned by civilians. The solicitation, originally posted on June 7, 2012, comes to light as the Obama administration is calling for a ban on semi-automatic rifles and high capacity magazines.
Citing a General Service Administration (GSA) request for proposal (RFP), Steve McGough of RadioViceOnline.com reports that DHS is asking for the 7,000 “select-fire” firearms because they are “suitable for personal defense use in close quarters.” The term select-fire means the weapon can be both semi-automatic and automatic. Civilians are prohibited from obtaining these kinds of weapons.
So much for the argument that assault weapons aren’t used for personal defense, but of course we always knew this was a bogus argument. Homeland Security has already bought somewhere around 450 million rounds of hollow point bullets so I suppose they need something to fire these rounds from.
And then there is the news that government officials will be exempt from the assault weapons ban, it makes you wonder what they are gearing up for…..
John Boehner is hiding something about Benghazi
John Boehner appeared on Laura Ingraham’s show last week and she asked him about Rand Paul’s question to Hillary Clinton during her testimony on Benghazi about the possibility that the United States was running guns into Syria through the CIA annex in Benghazi, and this is what he had to say:
I’m somewhat familiar with the chatter about this and the fact that these arms were moving toward Turkey but most of what I know about this came from a classified source and really can’t elaborate on it.
He seems to dismiss this possibility by calling it ‘chatter’ but then he goes on to call it a ‘fact’ that weapons were moving toward Turkey. John Boehner is a ruling class elitist career politician who knows how to mince his words to protect himself and I am sure he doesn’t throw the word ‘fact’ around carelessly. He then hid behind the excuse that he couldn’t go any further because it was classified information.

Dianne Feinstein doesn’t have the Democrat votes to pass the assault weapons ban…..yet
Earlier this week Dianne Feinstein introduced a draconian “assault weapons” ban which would also include a ban on most handguns as well as some rifles and shotguns.
There is some good news if this article is correct however; she may not have enough Democrat votes to pass the legislation:
A proposed ban on sales of assault weapons would be defeated in the U.S. Senate today unless some members changed their current views, based on a Bloomberg review of recent lawmaker statements and interviews.
At least six of the 55 senators who caucus with Democrats have recently expressed skepticism or outright opposition to a ban, the review found. That means Democrats wouldn’t have a simple 51-vote majority to pass the measure, let alone the 60 votes needed to break a Republican filibuster to bring it to a floor vote.
However I am skeptical of the Democrats who are currently ‘no’ votes and their true intentions because I think the Obamacare debate taught us a valuable lesson; these votes can be–and probably will be–bought.
Appeals Court rules Barack Obama’s recess appointments to the NLRB were unconstitutional
Back in January of last year Barack Obama made three recess appointments to the NLRB, which would not normally be newsworthy if it weren’t for the fact that the Congress was not in recess.
The Congress was using a political gimmick known as pro forma: the Congress adjourned but they held the Congress open, so the Congress was not in recess and the president did not have the authority to name appointees to these positions because some members of the Congress meet every few days to conduct “business.”
This may be a gimmick but it is nothing new and in fact the Democrats used a pro forma Congress to prevent President Bush from making recess appointments. The difference is that President Bush honored the pro forma Congress while Barack Obama did not. I would guess that if President Bush had tried this there would have been calls for impeachment from the left.

The big news of the day was Dianne Feinstein introducing an assault weapons ban which would include most handguns along with some rifles and shotguns. This should not come as a surprise to anyone paying attention because–in an unabashed attempt at shameless self-promotion–I wrote a post on December 27th in which I warned everyone that this is what she intended to do.
So instead of wasting time covering this issue again I will repost below what I wrote in my article from one month ago, Dianne Feinstein to introduce legislation which would ban most handguns, and here it is:
The big news from Hillary Clinton’s testimony in front of the Congress today was her angered response to the question about the lie perpetrated on the American people for weeks about the reason behind the terrorist attack in Benghazi on September 11th of last year, but before I get to that I would like to touch upon something else first.
And that is this: twice Hillary Clinton tried to portray herself as the victim in an attempt to draw sympathy and alleviate the criticism she has come under. She tried to claim that the State Department was a victim of under-funding but that is something that Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Diplomatic Security Charlene Lamb denied during sworn testimony last October.
And here is what John Boehner had to say about this:
We gave them all the money they asked for to make sure that our diplomats and our employees around the world were safe.” Boehner said. “It’s clear that her own people in Libya asked for additional security, and it’s also clear their request was rejected, and I think the secretary needs to explain why. In all, it’s all part of our bigger concern that this is their ‘lead from behind’ strategy. We’ve only seen passive responses to the rise of extremism and terrorist networks in places like Egypt or Tunisia or Libya and now Algeria. America has to lead in the effort to combat violent extremism and terrorism wherever it appears. And yet this White House seems content to watch passively and respond only if necessary
