Michael Moore tells white people to “calm down and put away your guns” yet his bodyguard was once arrested on a weapons violation

December 27, 2012

Michael Moore has a theory on why Americans carry guns; it is because white people are afraid of black people.

It’s because too many white people are afraid of black people,” he said. “Period

The vast majority of the guns in the U.S. are sold to white people who live in the suburbs or the country. When we fantasize about being mugged or home invaded, what’s the image of the perpetrator in our heads? Is it the freckled-face kid from down the street – or is it someone who is, if not black, at least poor?

Michael Moore doesn’t feel the need to carry a gun, but of course Michael Moore doesn’t carry a firearm, that is what his armed bodyguard is for. And speaking of his armed bodyguard, he was once arrested for carrying an unlicensed firearm into an airport.

Need I say more? Maybe it is time for Michael Moore to calm down and let go of his bigotry.

Dianne Feinstein to introduce legislation which would ban most handguns

December 27, 2012

Dianne Feinstein is preparing gun control legislation which she plans to introduce to the Senate in January. This legislation, as can be seen here on her own press release, would ban 120 specifically named firearms as well as “certain other semiautomatic rifles, handguns, and shotguns.” The legislation goes on to state that “high capacity” magazines capable of accepting more than 10 rounds will also be banned.

I am not sure that those who agree with this legislation actually understand what a semi-automatic weapon is so I will give you a simple to understand definition; you pull the trigger and fire a shot, you pull the trigger again and you fire another shot. It is as simple as that, in other words almost every gun produced is a semi-automatic weapon. Unless you have a revolver or a single shot rifle or shotgun it is most likely you own a semi-automatic weapon.

Now let us move on to “high capacity” as defined in this draft of the legislation. If you own a handgun and it is not a revolver or a sub compact handgun it is also most likely that you own a magazine with a capacity of at least 11 rounds. The majority of handguns produced would become illegal under this version of Dianne Feinstein’s proposed legislation.

But have no fear because Dianne Feinstein is claiming that she is protecting the rights of “legitimate hunters” and “existing gun owners.”

The New York gunman who opened fire on four firefighters wasn’t legally allowed to own firearms

December 26, 2012

The gun control debate was ratcheted up another notch over the weekend with the horrific story of William Spengler. William Spengler set several fires in order to lure firefighters to his home and then opened fire on them, killing two and wounding two others before putting the gun to his own head.

The problem with the gun control argument is this; William Spengler could not legally own firearms because he is a convicted felon so the problem isn’t with the gun laws because he wasn’t obeying the laws anyway, he didn’t obtain the weapons legally, but rather with a judicial system which lets a man who beat his own grandmother to death with a hammer out of jail in the first place.

If somebody can explain to me how more gun control laws would have stopped a man who had no intention of following any laws from committing this vile act I would love to hear it; the only thing that could have stopped this crime is if this man were still in jail where he belonged in the first place.

Instead of looking at the true problem the cowardly ruling class politicians in Washington have decided to take the easy way out by punishing legal gun owners for the actions of criminals.

‘Twas The Night Before Christmas; A Soldier’s poem: Merry Christmas Everybody!

December 24, 2012

In keeping with an America’s Watchtower Christmas tradition I give to you ‘Twas The Night Before Christmas; A Soldier’s Poem. I have changed it up a little from previous years by posting a different slide show I found on You Tube.

Please remember our heroes who are so far away from their families and their friends as Christmas approaches; it is because of them that we are free to celebrate with our families and our friends. I long for the day when they are all home safely and can enjoy the freedom for which they fought, that day cannot come soon enough.

As for me; I am worn out and will be taking a much needed break from blogging for a few days to enjoy Christmas with my family for they are what is most important to me and my life, without them I am nothing. I will be back, but until then I would like to wish all my readers a very Merry Christmas.

Below is a very rare live recording of my favorite band–The Cure–performing Merry Christmas Everybody from 1987. Enjoy and I will see you soon.

Open thread for Sunday, December 23rd: Apocalypse Please

December 23, 2012

Here is the open thread for Sunday, December 23rd; please feel free to post links to interesting articles and to discuss whatever issues arise during the course of the day. Nothing is off topic here.

If you are reading this post it means you survived the Mayan apocalypse so I thought I would share a video by Muse entitled “Apocalypse Please” to celebrate the fact that we are not yet in the end times.

This song also happens to have a political theme to it, speaking about the government creating crises which they can then bail us out of.

declare this an emergency
come on and spread a sense of urgency
and pull us through
and pull us through
and this is the end
this is the end of the world

it’s time we saw a miracle
come on it’s time for something biblical
to pull us through
and pull us through
and this is the end
this is the end of the world

proclaim eternal victory
come on and change the course of history
and pull us through
and pull us through
and this is the end
this is the end of the world

Momentum to unseat John Boehner as Speaker of the House gains momentum, will Paul Ryan be his replacement?

December 22, 2012

It appears as if the movement to unseat John Boehner as Speaker of the House is beginning to gain some momentum. Many of us have been unhappy with John Boehner for quite some time and have been hoping he would be replaced when the new Congress convened in January, but that didn’t appear likely despite his failed leadership and his being totally outmaneuvered by the Democrats for two years.

But then John Boehner finally flexed his muscles–unfortunately it was against fiscally conservative Republicans and not Democrats, showing that he really isn’t serious about solving the debt crisis–when he removed four Republicans from committee positions for failing to vote with the political class, establishment Republicans, and threatened to punish more if they didn’t fall in line and the movement against John Boehner began to grow.

The Obama regime announces General Motors exit strategy, taxpayers could lose billions

December 20, 2012

The Obama regime has announced its exit strategy in regards to their takeover of General Motors, so here is the good news: The Obama regime will sell 40% of its ownership stake in the company shortly and by March of 2014 the regime will sell all of its stock in the company.

  Now for the bad news:

Still, taxpayers will almost certainly lose billions of dollars in the $49.5 billion GM bailout – and the government would need to sell its remaining shares for about $70 each to break even. If the government sold the rest of its stock at current prices, taxpayers would lose more than $13 billion. But profits from the bank and AIG bailouts will largely offset the auto bailout losses.

The taxpayers stand to lose billions of dollars in this deal and this is what Barack Obama considers to be a success story as he continues to claim that he saved the auto industry with this bailout.

All this proves to me is that Mitt Romney was right all along: We all would have been better off if General Motors was allowed to file for bankruptcy. If General Motors was allowed to file for bankruptcy they probably would have emerged with a plan similar to the one imposed on them by the Obama regime with the only difference being that the taxpayer wouldn’t be on the hook for the loses.

Despite what Barack Obama claimed during the campaign Mitt Romney wasn’t for the liquidation of General Motors but rather for letting the company go through the long standing bankruptcy procedure so they could emerge from bankruptcy with a plan for the future that wouldn’t have included the American people picking up the tab for the failures of General Motors or their mismanagement.

Gunrunner: Were ATF agents personally running guns into Mexico?

December 20, 2012

Barack Obama had hoped that he put the murderous Fast and Furious scandal to bed when he gave in  to Eric Holder’s plea to seal the documents which Darrell Issa had spent a year trying to get his hands on.

And it looked like it was mission accomplished until earlier this week when Eric Holder’s prediction that weapons lost during the deadly Fast and Furious scandal would continue to turn up at crime scenes for years to come came  true when we learned a weapon sold under the Fast and Furious debacle was recovered at the murder site of a beauty queen named  Maria Susana Flores Gamez last month.

Charles Grassley is claiming that the Department of Injustice withheld this little tidbit from the Congress, and witthis new revelation we may be finding out why. It turns out that there wasn’t one weapon found at this murder site, there were two.

Samuel L. Jackson: Sandy Hook is not about gun control

December 18, 2012

I rarely agree with anything that Samuel L. Jackson–or anyone else in Hollywood for that matter–has to say but today is the exception.

This is what Samuel L. Jackson had to say about all the gun control talk in the wake of the Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre:

I don’t think it’s about more gun control,” Jackson told the Los Angeles Times. “I grew up in the South with guns everywhere and we never shot anyone. This [shooting] is about people who aren’t taught the value of life

That is the exact point that I made in this post on December 16th; We live in a culture that does not hold life as dear as it once did and instead of looking at what drives a person to commit such a vile act we are instead looking at legislation which does not address the real problem in today’s society. And the reason the politicians are taking this stance is because it is the easy way out; it gives the American people the perception that the politicians are doing something, and makes the politicians feel as if they are addressing a problem that is more complex than they–or the American people–care to admit.

Gunrunner: Another Fast and Furious weapon turns up at a murder scene

December 18, 2012

Since Eric Holder ran to Barack Obama and pleaded with him to seal the records Darrell Issa had subpoenaed, and Barack Obama obliged him through Executive Privilege, I haven’t had anything new to write about on the murderous Fast and Furious scandal–which is exactly what the Obama regime wanted.

  But that changed today:

On November 23rd of this year there was a shootout in Mexico between a drug cartel and Mexican soldiers which left  Maria Susana Flores Gamez, a beauty queen used as a human shield, dead.

A weapon purchased by Uriel Patino was found at the scene of the crime. Why is this important? Because the weapon was one of 700 that Patino purchased while under the watchful eye of the ATF as part of Fast and Furious.

Chuck Grassley stated that the Department of Injustice did not notify the Congress that one of the weapons found at the scene was one of the weapons lost in the Fast and Furious debacle. Not surprising when we take into account that Eric Holder has already admitted that Fast and Furious weapons will continue to turn up at crime scenes for years to come–he would just rather keep the actual statistics as quiet as possible.

Not one mention of this in the propaganda arm of the Obama regime otherwise known as the mainstream media, is anyone surprised?
