Latest New Hampshire presidential poll (07/18/12) shows Mitt Romney gaining on Barack Obama

July 18, 2012

I have been anxiously awaiting the latest New Hampshire presidential poll and today we finally have a little insight into the mindset of New Hampshirites because the first poll since Mitt Romney won the Republican nomination has been released and it shows us that Mitt Romney is narrowing the gap between he and the president.

According to this poll Barack Obama leads Mitt Romney by a margin of 49%-45% and because this falls within the margin of error it is considered a statistical dead heat. This poll shows Mitt Romney gaining on Barack Obama because the last WMUR poll was conducted in April and it had Barack Obama ahead of Mitt Romney by nine points, at 51%-42%.

While this poll shows Mitt Romney may be gaining momentum in New Hampshire I have to admit that I am more than a little disappointed in the fact that Barack Obama is leading anyone in the great state of New Hampshire after the historic gains Republicans made in the 2010 midterm elections in the state. The 2010 midterm elections in New Hampshire were truly a referendum on Barack Obama and a repudiation of his policies and I had hoped the momentum would continue right through the 2012 election in November, but that doesn’t appear to be the case.

It is still early but this does raise a concern that has been on my mind for quite awhile; the Republicans were so successful in New Hampshire in 2010 that it would be almost unrealistic for us to believe they could make further gains in the state, and I believe it will be hard for the Republicans to even hold on to the same majorities they now hold in the legislature, although I feel there is a great chance for the Republicans to win the governor’s seat.

It is going to be interesting to see how this plays out in the race for the presidency and while Mitt Romney is gaining on Barack Obama in the state of New Hampshire I do think there is reason for the Republicans in this state to be concerned.

Solargate: A second Nevada green energy plant goes bankrupt after receiving stimulus money

July 18, 2012

Back on July 5th of this year I wrote this post about a Nevada green energy plant, Nevada Geothermal Power, which will be filing for bankruptcy after receiving $100 million in stimulus loan guarantees. In that post I wrote that I felt as though I could just copy and paste previous posts on this issue and all I would have to do is change the name of the company in question because the rest of the story is the same, and that statement really rings true because the story of Amonix is the second example of Barack Obama’s failed green energy initiative to take place in the home state of Harry Reid.

Much like Nevada Geothermal Power, Amonix is a green energy plant located in Nevada which received federal stimulus money under Barack Obama’s green energy initiative and 14 months after receiving $21 million in federal subsidies has announced it will be shutting its doors for good.

The Obama regime likes to make the claim that Solyndra was one bad green energy investment while the rest of the portfolio remains strong, but in oder to make that claim the regime has to ignore its other failures: Solar Trust, SoloPower, Enir1, BrightSource, Abengoa, SunPower, LightSquared, Tesla, Fisker, and Beacon Power have all received federal stimulus money, they all have ties to Democrats, and they all have issues.

Barack Obama has been attacking Mitt Romney for sending jobs overseas, yet that is precisely what Barack Obama did in the case of Fisker. Barack Obama has been attacking Mitt Romney for investing money in companies which eventually had to file for bankruptcy, but as we can see Barack Obama has now done that on several occasions, the big difference of course is the fact that Mitt Romney did this with private money while Barack Obama did it with OUR money. I ask you which is worse?

And this is the second company in Harry Reid’s state which wasn’t on sound financial ground when Barack Obama decided it was a worthy investment, do you think the fact that Harry Reid is the Senate Majority leader, and a Democrat, played any role in Barack Obama’s decision in these two cases? It reeks of the very same type of crony capitalism that Barack Obama railed against when he was running for president if you ask me, and we are on the hook for this.

Mitt Romney hammers Barack Obama over his “you didn’t build that” comment, and John Sununu says he wishes Obama “would learn to be an American”

July 17, 2012

By now you have heard Barack Obama’s anti-capitalist, Marxist rant where he told a group of people that basically nobody can make it without the help of the federal government, the federal government is the entity which makes all private business ventures possible.

If you’ve got a business, you didn’t build that. Somebody else made that happen

That was the comment that provoked my former governor, John Sununu, to say that he wished the president would “learn how to be an American.” It goes without saying that the mainstream media will try to claim that John Sununu is a birther in an attempt to discredit him–and the Republican party–by neglecting to use his statement in context:

What I thought I said, but I guess I didn’t say, is that the President has to learn the American formula for creating businesses. The American formula for creating business is not having the government creating business. The American formula for creating business that I wish he would get comfortable with is to create an environment in which entrepreneurs’ can thrive. If I didn’t give all that detail, then I apologize.

And clearly you can see that was precisely what he was trying to say in the first place when you read the whole quote:

These are the people who are the backbone of our economy and the President clearly demonstrated he has absolutely no idea how the American economy functions. The men and women all over America who have worked hard to build these businesses from the ground up — that’s how our economy became the envy of the world. It is the American way and I wish this President would learn how to be an American

But that is the way the media rolls and we should expect nothing less. Mitt Romney understands this as well and it would be my guess that is the reason why Mitt Romney hasn’t been willing to go after Barack Obama with the same zeal the Obama regime has exhibited toward him. Mitt Romney knows he is fighting against both Barack Obama and the media and if he hopes to have any chance at defeating Barack Obama in November he has to say the hell with it and go after Barack Obama with both guns blazing.

And maybe, just maybe, we saw the first signs that Mitt Romney is about to do just that when he came out firing at Barack Obama today for the president’s comments attack on America’s small business owners and entrepreneurs: Read more…

Did Barack Obama commit a felony as president of the United States?

July 16, 2012

In an attempt to paint Mitt Romney as guilty until proven innocent the Obama regime has declared that Mitt Romney might have committed a felony while he was in charge of Bain Capital and has demanded him to prove these claims are baseless. So this opens up the door for us to examine what Barack Obama has done in the past as well, and he isn’t all that clean either.

How many of you remember the Joe Sestak scandal? I had forgotten about it myself until I read this story, but with the attacks on Mitt Romney the Joe Sestak story deserves a second look.

As I wrote about here; Joe Sestak claimed that the Obama regime offered him a high ranking position in the cabinet if he simply decided not to run against Republican turned Democrat Arlen Spector in his reelection bid in 201o, and if this is true someone within the Obama regime–and possibly the president–has committed a federal crime: Read more…

Video: Mitt Romney’s new ad uses the mainstream media’s words about Obama’s dishonest and negative campaign against him

July 15, 2012

Below is Mitt Romney’s newest campaign ad which I found at The Right Scoop where he uses the words of the mainstream media against the sitting president. In this ad the media is heard questioning Barack Obama’s decision to go negative right out of the gate, as well as his dishonest ads, and they ask the question, “whatever happened to hope and change?”

A very good question in my opinion; hope and change has been replaced with divide and conquer.

DHS agrees to give Florida access to database so voter purge can be completed

July 15, 2012

The federal government took on Florida for trying to purge her voting rolls from ineligible voters such as illegal aliens, felons, and dead people and today we have learned that the federal government has admitted defeat. After stonewalling for over a year the Department of Homeland Security has finally agreed to show Florida its database so that the state can make sure the purge is accurate.

Florida had been ordered by Eric Holder’s Department of Injustice to stop purging the voter rolls claiming the state was in violation of federal election law for not completing the purge at least 90 days before the state’s upcoming primary. Governor Rick Scott denied the state was in violation of the law and Florida filed a lawsuit against the federal government, claiming that the Department of Homeland Security was not granting the state its legal right to see the SAVE database and this is why the state wasn’t able to complete the voter purge.

Alaska sues the Obama regime over new costly shipping regulations illegally implemented by the EPA

July 14, 2012

Beginning on August 1st the EPA has ordered Alaska to start using a low sulfur fuel in all her large marine vessels. Meeting this new regulation would be costly and naturally that means the price of all goods transported by ship from Alaska would necessarily skyrocket.

The Alaska Department of Law said in a statement that the low-sulfur-fuel requirement would be costly, jacking up prices for products shipped by marine vessel and harming Alaska’s cruise industry.

“Alaska relies heavily on maritime traffic, both for goods shipped to and from the state, and for the cruise ship passengers who support thousands of Alaskan jobs

The  EPA is using an amendment to the MARPOL treaty as justification for this new order, but there is just one little problem with this. The amendment was signed onto by Hillary Clinton in 2010 but it still has not been ratified by the Congress so this is still not the law of the land and cannot be enforced.

Alaska is suing the EPA and the Department of Homeland Security to block the EPA from implementing this regulation pending the outcome of a vote in the Congress. It has been two years since Hillary Clinton agreed to the amendment and it still hasn’t been voted on; this tells me there is not enough support to gain the two-thirds majority needed to pass the amendment and the Obama regime simply felt as if they could slip this through without notice to avoid a confrontation with the Congress over an upopular amendment to an existing treaty.

It wouldn’t be the first time the Obama regime has snuck around both the constitution and the Congress to implement his policies, and it isn’t even the first time he has used the EPA to accomplish goals which he couldn’t get through the Congress, and it seems as if he is getting bolder with every action he takes because of the unwillingness of the Congress to take him to task on these issues.

Barack Obama refuses to apologize to Mitt Romney and says Romney needs to answer questions about his past even though Obama accepted money from Bain outsourcers

July 13, 2012

Yesterday the Obama campaign floated the idea that Mitt Romney might be a felon, this was quickly debunked and Mitt Romney called on the regime to apologize for this baseless accusation.

Today not only did Barack Obama not apologize to Mitt Romney but he sort of doubled down on the smear stating Romney has much in his past to answer for:

My understanding is that Mr. Romney attested to the SEC, multiple times, that he  was the chairman, CEO and president of Bain  Capital and I think most Americans figure if you are the chairman, CEO and  president of a company that you are responsible for what that company does

If he aspires to being president, one of the things you learn is, you are  ultimately responsible for the conduct of your operations, that’s probably a  question that he’s going to have to answer, and I think that’s a legitimate part  of the campaign

I am going to agree with Barack Obama here; if Mitt Romney has nothing to hide he should just release the records and prove it, end the controversy before it festers. But there are many questions about Barack Obama’s past as well and if he were a leader he would lead by example and release his college records so we can see how a man who admitted he was more interested in smoking pot and snorting coke than studying while in highschool managed to be accepted into three prestigious colleges. Was it because he was listed as a foreign exchange student?

Obama campaign calls on Romney to release his tax returns to prove he isn’t a felon, while stating it is “preposterous” to ask for Obama’s college transcripts to be released

July 12, 2012

This was quite a day which highlights the hypocrisy of the Obama regime, and the left in general, quite nicely. First: we had the Obama campaign state that Mitt Romney should release his tax returns to prove he isn’t either a felon or a liar.

Cutter said that there were two ways to interpret the story. The first: Mitt Romney was “misrepresenting his position” at Bain to the Securities and Exchange Commission, “which is a felony.”

Or, he was “misrepresenting his position at Bain to the American people. If that’s the case, if he was lying to the American people, that’s a real character and trust issue,” Cutter said.

Cutter called on the Romney campaign to clear up by the issue by releasing the candidate’s tax returns.

“If the SEC filings aren’t accurate, then prove it,” she said

This was soon debunked and now the Romney camp is asking for an apology for the smear, but the damage has already been done. The baseless accusation was thrown out there, we can expect there will be no apology, and a certain section of the voting block will consider this to be fact. And even if an apology is forthcoming it won’t be covered with the vigor or with the lust the original claim was, if it is covered at all.

MSNBC claims Mitt Romney’s use of the term ‘kitchen cabinet’ might have been racially motivated

July 12, 2012

Earlier today on MSNBC a guest made the claim that when Mitt Romney spoke in front of the NAACP he used a racially insensitive term when he spoke about a black man being in his ‘kitchen cabinet.’ Here is what Mark Thompson had to say:

This might have been a small thing, but it’s important for people to  understand,” Thompson said. “You cannot be culturally ignorant. He singled out  one African-American who came with the 20 in his entourage as an  African-American that was in his kitchen cabinet in Massachusetts, and he  promised that he would remain in his kitchen cabinet if he was in the White  House.”

According to Thompson, mentioning African-Americans and kitchens at the same  time is a bad idea.

“To talk about being in the kitchen and not talk about an African-American  actually being in your cabinet is really not a good metaphor to use with  African-Americans

The term ‘kitchen cabinet’ was a term used during Andrew Jackson’s presidency to describe a group of people who were advising the president outside of his official cabinet. It seems to me that Mark Thompson is trying to make the claim that Mitt Romney didn’t want a black man on his official cabinet advising him in public so he consulted with him in private instead.

But doesn’t this suggest that the black advisor Mitt Romney was talking about might have been a close, personal adviser to the presidential hopeful whose opinion he valued deeply and trusted, and was not someone whom Mitt Romney was trying to hide in a backroom as Mark Thompson seems to be suggesting?

The bottom line here is that the left is trying to find racism where it doesn’t exist and all this does is numb people to the race card to the point where when a case where true racism exists the people don’t take the charges seriously because they have heard the charges so lightly thrown around in recent years that their first reaction is “here we go again.”

The left and the mainstream media are getting desperate and they are trying very hard to delegitimize Mitt Romney’s candidacy because they feel this election slipping away from them, but by making such stretches all they are really doing is making themselves less and less relevant.
