It certainly pays to be a family member or friend of Texas Congressman Eddie Bernice Johnson. Yesterday it was learned that she had steered six scholarships towards family members and friends, but today that number has jumped to 23.
U.S. Rep. Eddie Bernice Johnson awarded eight scholarships last year to her grandsons and a top aide’s children – bringing to 23 the number of awards she handed out since 2005 in violation of Congressional Black Caucus Foundation eligibility rules.

I don’t think that I need to remind anyone that Democrats promised to run the most ethical and honest Congress in history. But with the indictments of both Charlie Rangel and Maxine Waters on ethics charges we have learned that the Democrats are no more ethical than the people they replaced. It seems as if the Democrats’ reality doesn’t quite meet the hype.

The Federal Government includes Arizona’s immigration law in its United Nations report on human rights violations
The United States in the process of writing a report to submit to the United Nations listing all of America’s alleged human rights violations and the measures they are taking to correct them.
Included in this report is Arizona’s controversial immigration law and the lawsuit that was filed against Arizona in an attempt to stop the law from taking effect.
Needless to say, Arizona’s governor–Jan Brewer–is taking offense to her state being mentioned as a violator of human rights.
Democrat leaders may extend the Bush tax cuts on the rich
The Democrats have always subscribed to the “divide and conquer” strategy for winning elections. They love to divide Americans by race–African-Americans, Hispanic-Americans, Asian-Americans, the list goes on and on–in order to play each “brand” of Americans separately against Republicans with promises to help them in an attempt to prove to these different minority groups that only they understand them. This strategy is probably responsible for most of the lingering racial problems in this country as Democrats refuse to allow all Americans to be just that–Americans. Until Americans drop the qualifying hyphens and view each other as just plain Americans the problem will persist–and that is precisely what the Democrats want. Divide and conquer.
But there is another “divide and conquer” strategy that the left loves to play, and that is the game of class warfare. Democrats continue to try to drive a wedge of jealousy between Americans based on class and economic success. They love to divide Americans based on economic classes and–much like their divide and conquer strategy on race–this policy is intentionally divisive as they continue to try to arouse anger between Americans instead of trying to pull them together.
New Hampshire Union Leader endorses Ovide Lamontagne
The New Hampshire Union Leader has decided to endorse Ovide Lamontagne in the Republican primary for United States senate.
Here is what the Union Leader said in its endorsement, reprinted in full:
Ovide Lamontagne is our choice for the U.S. Senate.
He is not the flashiest candidate. He certainly is not the richest. He isn’t the favorite of the bigtime professional pols or the Washington crowd.
Ovide is just a smart-as-a-whip, honest, hard-working son of New Hampshire who says what he believes. What he believes makes sense to save our nation from economic ruin; and he will stick to it come hell, high water, or demands from party bosses to “go along and get along.”
We have been impressed by the number of grassroots conservatives backing Ovide. They are not the best-known, prominent Republicans (those have tended to line up with one or another of the presumed “favorites”).The people backing Ovide Lamontagne have been in the trenches for conservative causes and principles. They know their man and consider him, by far, the most capable person to make the tough choices needed at a crucial time for our country. They also know he can win in November.
We agree. We hope you will, too.
While Kelly Ayotte and Bill Binnie continue to hammer each other Ovide Lamontagne continues to run a grassroots campaign. He is still a longshot to pull off this victory but I honestly feel that he is the best conservative candidate in the race and I ask that all undecided voters please step away from the two frontrunners and take a look at Ovide’s oath before making your decision.
The Justice Department is finally doing something about illegal immigration; unfortunately what they are doing is trying to bully Arizona into capitulation. But this attempt at capitulation goes beyond just suing over Arizona’s new controversial immigration law, the federal government is also pursuing charges against those that try to enforce the current immigration policy not being challenged in court.
We all remember Arizona Sheriff Joe Arpiao, he is the tough Arizona sheriff who has been defying an order from Homeland Security to stop arresting illegal aliens.
“I am the elected sheriff. I don’t take orders from the federal government”
That defiance has come with a price tag–a price that Sheriff Joe was willing to pay–because the Justice Department is now conducting an investigation into Sheriff Joe’s department for alleged racial profiling and civil rights violations.
Texas fights to stop the EPA’s global warming “power grab”
A recent Supreme Court decision has determined that greenhouse gasses 
are dangerous and because of this they are subject to regulation under the Clean Air Act. With the Senate unable to agree upon a cap and trade bill in the last session the EPA has begun rewriting the Clean Air Act to regulate greenhouse gasses. This is Barack Obama’s “Plan B” to implement cap and trade legislation.
This is nothing more than an attempt by the EPA and the Obama regime to pass a cap and trade bill without ever having the legislation voted on and passed by the Congress. In other words, they are preparing to implement law by dictate.
Homeland Security to grant backdoor amnesty by dropping thousands of deportation hearings
Supporters of comprehensive immigration reform and granting amnesty to illegal aliens use a defense that goes something like this; “we can’t possibly round up all of the illegal aliens and deport them so we have to do something with those that are already here illegally and granting them amnesty would bring them out of the shadows.”
For the sake of this argument I will grant supporters of amnesty the point that we cannot round up all of the illegal aliens and deport them even though I believe immigration sweeps would accomplish capturing many of them. Even if we cannot systematically round them up and deport them, we can deport them one at a time when they are caught.
Currently there are thousands of illegal aliens waiting for deportation hearings in the United States; if these illegal aliens lose their deportation hearings they will naturally be deported. That is how the system works, but the Department of Homeland Security apparently doesn’t like the way the system works because they are reviewing the thousands of deportation hearings and appear ready to drop many of them if the illegal alien in question has not committed an additional crime.
Max Baucus wrote the healthcare bill but did not read it?
Much has been made about the politicians who voted in favor of the healthcare reform legislation without actually knowing what was in it because they didn’t even bother to read what they were voting on, but this takes the cake. Max Baucus is credited with writing the unpopular legislation but at a recent public meeting–when confronted with the question of whether or not he read the healthcare bill–Max Baucus admitted that he had not read the healthcare reform bill before voting on it.
John McCain wins easily in Arizona primary
John McCain has easily won the Arizona Republican primary and will now face re-election in November. This has to be considered a loss for the Tea Party movement no matter how you look at it. John McCain represents the exact type of politician that the Tea Party wants to see defeated.
In such an anti-incumbent atmosphere you would have thought the Tea Party movement would have been able to get out the vote and defeat John McCain, but that didn’t happen and now we are left to wonder if the voter angst that we hear so much about is going to be as big a factor as we believed it would be come November.
