The House releases its report on the Benghazi attack
Earlier today the House released its report on the terrorist attack in Benghazi on September 11th which killed Chris Stevens, Glen Doherty, Tyrone Woods, and Sean Smith.
The highlights of this report can be found in this article but there is nothing new to anyone who has been following this story closely: The federal government failed to send enough security into the region before the attack even though there was intelligence stating there was a threat, requests for more security were not only ignored but security forces were withdrawn from the region, the four victims of the attack fought gallantly until the end, and the Obama regime misled the American people by claiming the attack was motivated by a youtube video that nobody had seen.
The only question is, what the hell are they going to do about it? To this point the only person who has been held accountable is the United States citizen who had some involvement in creating the video which was not the motivation behind the attack. And I would be willing to bet he will be the only person who is ever held responsible for the attack.
The federal government has let these four heroes down and as far as I can tell this is a dead issue, this is why it is time for a third party–perhaps the New Federalist Party!
The AP admits the Boston Marathon bombing was tied to Islam
While many in the media, and Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick, are claiming we still don’t know the motive behind the Boston Marathon bombing the AP has finally admitted the attack was tied to radical Islam:
Two U.S. officials say preliminary evidence from an interrogation suggests the suspects in the Boston Marathon attack were motivated by religion but were apparently not tied to any Islamic terrorist groups.
The two brothers, from southern Russia, practiced Islam.
The U.S. officials spoke Monday on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to publicly discuss the investigation.
I think that most Americans already realize this was the motivating factor in these attacks, but the mainstream media has been unwilling up until this point to admit it because it would stain Barack Obama’s national security claims and it would highlight the fact that Barack Obama and the Democrats’ policies have made us less safe.
If Sandy Hook was about gun control the Boston Marathon bombing should be about immigration reform
In the aftermath of the Sandy Hook massacre Barack Obama and the Democrats decided to use the attack to push the gun control legislation which eventually failed in the Senate last week. This legislation would have done nothing to stop criminals from obtaining weapons but rather would have made it more difficult for law abiding citizens to obtain firearms to protect themselves from the criminals, but that did not stop the Democrats from pushing this legislation in the wake of this attack.
With Dzhokhar Tsarnaev now in custody and the crisis over (we think) we are going to hear about the need for increased video surveillance on all street corners in major cities and possibly even an increased police presence in the streets, and this will probably be used to justify the domestic drone spying program which is already in the works. This will be the narrative from both the Democrats and the Republicans alike.
Again the focus will be on infringing on the rights of law abiding citizens, asking them to give up a little more liberty for a little more security and much like the Sandy Hook reaction this is misplaced because the focus should be on our immigration and deportation laws.

What is going on with Bill Maher lately?
Last month Bill Maher complained that his taxes were too high and admitted the rich do in fact pay their fair share after all:
Pointing at Virginia’s former Republican Congressman Tom Davis, Maher said, “You know what? Rich people – I’m sure you’d agree with this – actually do pay the freight in this country.”
“I just saw these statistics,” he continued, “I mean, something like 70 percent. And here in California, I just want to say liberals – you could actually lose me. It’s outrageous what we’re paying – over 50 percent. I’m willing to pay my share, but yeah, it’s ridiculous.”
That seemed to come out of left field–pun intended–after years of claiming the rich needed to pay higher taxes; perhaps when he noticed his tax rate was going to go up he finally realized he was one of the very people he had been complaining about for so long. Funny how a person’s perspective can change when the policies they support adversely affect themselves, isn’t it?
Video: Boston Bruins fans sing the National Anthem
The Boston Bruins were the first local sports team to play a game in Boston since the Boston Marathon bombing and this was a pretty cool moment from before the game.
The fans took over singing the National Anthem and Rene Rancourt stepped aside and let them carry the day. Rene Rancourt is the Boston Bruins regular anthem singer and he said after the game that he was too emotional to get through the song on his own so he welcomed the fan participation.
Open thread: Mea culpa
I am writing an open thread tonight to take the time to retract a post I had written yesterday and to express my regret for posting an article which was not true. I have removed the post but I do not think that is enough.
Yesterday I wrote a post taking Barack Obama to task for claiming that a minority in the Senate stopped the universal background checks on all firearms related transactions. It is true that the amendment failed by a vote of 54 to 46, but 54 Senators did vote to pass the amendment so Barack Obama was correct that a minority in the Senate did stop it, it simply did not get the super majority needed to pass.
It was not my intent to misrepresent the facts, I simply got caught up in my emotions and was not thinking it through. This is no excuse but it is the truth. I deeply regret my mistake and I apologize for it. I vow never to make this mistake again.
Max Baucus fears Obamacare will be a train wreck
At a hearing today Max Baucus told Kathleen Sebelius that he feared the implementation of Obamacare would be a train wreck:
I just see a huge train wreck coming down,” he told Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius at a Wednesday hearing. “You and I have discussed this many times, and I don’t see any results yet.
I’m very concerned that not enough is being done so far — very concerned
This is very interesting because as we all know Max Baucus is the man credited with writing this monstrosity. It looks to me as if he finally realizes Obamacare is unpopular and he fears the repercussions. More and More Democrats are voicing concerns about this legislation and he fears the repercussions both he and other Democrats may feel at the voting booth so he is trying to deflect the blame away from the legislation itself and put in on the implementation. He is trying to make Katheen Sebelius the fall gal for this disaster when he really should be looking in the mirror.
Chalk one up for the constitutionalists and the second amendment supporters because today the Senate defeated an amendment which would have created universal background checks on all firearms transactions by a vote of 54 to 46.
The mainstream media had been trying to sell the universal background checks as a highly popular measure with the American people to put pressure on the Congress to pass it for Barack Obama but obviously the propaganda blitz was ineffective because five Democrats knew they would be in trouble with the voters if they supported it.
Harry Reid also voted against it and he did it for two reasons in my opinion: First, this is a procedural move which will allow him to bring it up for a vote on a later date and second; he also knew he would be in trouble in the polls and the procedural move provided him with the cover he needed to protect himself from his constituents at the voting booth. He can tell the liberals he voted against it to have another shot at passing it and he can tell the conservatives he voted against it to protect the second amendment, this was a win-win vote for him.
This man be a victory today but the fight is not over so we cannot let our guard down. This will be back for another vote at some time and we have to remain vigilant lest they pass this measure when we are distracted on other issues. And mark my words, the Democrats and the mainstream media will be creating plenty of distractions.
While Steny Hoyer (predictably) was trying to blame the sequester cuts for not stopping the Boston Marathon terrorist attack the UK Daily Mail is reporting something much different.
According to this article Robert Liscouski is making the claim that the Obama regime actually cut the Office for Bombing Prevention’s budget nearly in half during his reign.
Barack Obama’s administration has cut the budget nearly in half for preventing domestic bombings, MailOnline can reveal.
Under President George W. Bush, the Department of Homeland Security had $20 million allocated for preventing the use of improvised explosive devices (IEDs) by terrorists working inside the United States. The current White House has cut that funding down to $11 million.
That assessment comes from Robert Liscouski, a former Homeland Security Assistant Secretary for Infrastructure Protection, in the wake of the Boston Marathon bombings on April 15 that killed three Americans and injured at least 173 others.
He told MailOnline that the Obama-era DHS is, on the whole, about as well-positioned as it was during the Bush administration to handle the aftermath of the April 15 bombings in Boston, ‘but the Obama administration has continued to cut the budget for offices such as the Office for Bombing Prevention from $20 million started under Bush, to $11 million today.’
At this point we do not know what the truth is, but people like Steny Hoyer ought to be mighty careful before they start throwing claims around in order to benefit politically from this attack for the truth might be far different than he cares to admit.
How sad is it that we have to look towards foreign news outlets to learn about stories like this?
