Gunrunner: weapons found at dozens of crime scenes

July 26, 2011

According to a Congressional report 122 weapons sold to Mexican criminals by the Obama regime either turned up at crime scenes or were intercepted while making their way to crime scenes on at least 48 different occasions. The “Justice” Department is challenging this number, saying it can only confirm 96 weapons were recovered during this botched operation at or on their way to crime scenes.

Okay, let us give the Obama regime the benefit of the doubt because the actual number doesn’t matter at this point, and there isn’t much use squabbling over 122 vs 96; somewhere around 100 weapons which the government sold to criminals have turned up at crime scenes, and we must remember that we have no idea how many crimes were committed with these very same weapons before they were recovered at their final crime.

But even this isn’t the worst part of the Congressional report:

Of the 2,000 weapons sold to the suspected gun traffickers, just over half remain unaccounted for, the report added. The ATF was unaware of most of the gun sales when they occurred, according to the Justice Department, which oversees it.

“Given the vast amount of ‘Operation Fast and Furious’ weapons possibly still in the hands of cartel members, law enforcement officials should expect more seizures and recoveries at crime scenes,” the congressional report said.

Let me get this straight: according to the official story, the United States government forced these gun shops to sell weapons to criminals while ignoring the gun shops owners’ concerns that something was amiss, and they did this because they were going to track the weapons to high level Mexican drug lords, but yet the Obama regime has no idea in hell where over half of these weapons are?!

Kenneth Melson testified before the Congress that these weapons were never tracked after the initial sale and I think it is becoming more and more obvious that he is telling the truth. While hundreds of Mexicans have died because of this operation, and while at least two Americans have died because of this operation, the sad fact is that there are still people in danger because of this operation. The killing and the crime spree sanctioned and made possible by the United States government through its botched operation is far from over. How many more people have to die before Eric Holder and Barack Obama are held responsible?

Gunrunner: Darrell Issa claims the Obama regime was intimidating witnesses

July 26, 2011

The story of Kenneth Melson–the acting head of the ATF–is well known to anybody who is paying close attention to the Gunrunner scandal: Eric Holder, or some other higher up in the Obama regime, tried to make Mister Melson the fall guy for this botched and deadly operation by calling for his resignation. But Kenneth Melson refused to resign until he was allowed to present his side of the story to the Congress–the problem being that the “Justice” Department was refusing to let him testify because they wanted an assurance that his testimony would be limited. Kenneth Melson eventually got the chance to clear his name in a secret meeting with Darrell Issa’s Oversight Committee using a personal attorney instead of a “Justice” Department attorney so that he would be free to state the truth as he saw it, and not the watered down truth the “Justice” department hoped for.

Kenneth Melson’s testimony was pretty damning and led Darrel Issa to declare that the “Justice” Department was obstructing the investigation into this murderous scandal. As all of this was going on a video surfaced which showed all of those paying attention that Eric Holder knew about Gunrunner from its inception, and in fact he had perjured himself in front of the Congress when he laughingly claimed that he knew nothing about the botched operation until it came to light in the media.

As if lying to the Congress and trying to obstruct Kenneth Melson’s testimony before the Congress wasn’t bad enough Darrell Issa is now claiming that the Obama regime was trying to intimidate potential witnesses. Read more…

Barack Obama to La Raza: “doing things on my own is very tempting”

July 25, 2011

Earlier today Barack Obama spoke to  La Raza–which literally translates  to mean The Race–and used this venue to tout comprehensive immigration reform–which we all know literally translates to mean amnesty for illegal aliens. During this speech he claimed that America’s immigration system was broken and needed to be fixed, and I agree with him on this. But it isn’t the system itself which is broken, but rather the enforcement of the system which is broken.

We have plenty of immigration laws on the books right now (isn’t this the position the Obama regime had in regards to Arizona’s immigration law) we do not need more laws, and we certainly do not need to reward criminal aliens with amnesty: what we need to do is enforce the laws which are on the books. He promised once again to pass comprehensive immigration reform, but one has to wonder how much longer the illegal immigrants are going to believe him. He promised to make this legislation a top priority in his regime during the first year but he has failed to do so, and he is now blaming the Congress (and more specifically, the Republicans in the Congress) for yet another broken promise.

While blaming the Congress he made a statement which I found very interesting: Read more…

Was the United States government selling military grade weapons to the Zetas?

July 24, 2011

As if the Gunrunner scandal wasn’t big enough on its own it became even bigger when we learned about Operation Castaway; the ATF in Florida was selling weapons to known criminals in Honduras, and these weapons have turned up at crime scenes all across the globe. These two programs alone should be enough to force Eric Holder’s resignation and prosecution, as well as a closer look into what and when Barack Obama knew about these operations, but alas there may be more.

It is now rumoured that the State Department was running guns to a violent gang known as the Zetas; using a legitimate government program designed to sell military grade weapons to other governments.

From the intel, it appears that a company was set up in Mexico to purchase weapons through the U.S. Direct Commercial Sales Program, and that the company may have had a direct link to the Zetas

Gunrunner: internal emails may show gun control was the reason for Fast and Furious

July 24, 2011

Friday night I wrote a post about Senator Charles Grassley and his statement that he suspected gun control was the real reason the “Justice” Department ordered Operation Fast and Furious to be carried out. In that post I mentioned that I believed there was no way Charles Grassley would make an assertion like this, and risk the integrity of the investigation, without there being something to base it on. I thought that he was sitting on some information and was waiting for the right time to come forward with it.

We now may know why Charles Grassley believes the true motive behind Operation Fast and Furious was to create a crisis in order to implement gun control legislation on law abiding American citizens–internal ATF emails suggest this was at least part of the motive behind this deadly operation. The Senate votes to table “cut, cap, and balance”

July 22, 2011

To the surprise of no-one the Senate killed off the House’s “cut, cap, and balance” bill which would have increased the debt ceiling while cutting spending and sending a balanced budget amendment to the people for a vote.

Here is some of what Harry Reid said in announcing this “victory:”

We just completed a very important vote. We have now demonstrated that the House Republicans’ Cut, Cap and Balance is over, done — it’s dead.

Reid said it’s time for the “process to move forward,” as lawmakers look for a way to “avoid insolvency.”

I find it interesting that at the same time the Senate voted to kill “cut, cap, and balance” without even having a debate on the issue, he declared that this makes it possible for the process to move forward. I say this because as of right now the House is the only branch of government which actually moved a solution forward in the first place and the Senate killed it without debating it. At the very least the House Republicans’ proposal could have been used as a means to move the process forward, but by tabling the only proposal on the table Harry Reid and the Democrats actually set the process back, they did not move anything forward.

Senator John Cornyn seems to agree with my appraisal of the Senate action:

The Democrat-led Senate’s failure to both produce a budget and pass the Cut, Cap, and Balance Act of 2011 underscores the Democrats’ irresponsible commitment to the status quo,” Cornyn said. “While the President and Senator Reid refuse to produce a plan to deal with our debt crisis or get debt help from the experts, Republicans will keep working to meet the nation’s fiscal challenges

How many times have we heard Barack Obama claim that he was willing to listen to all proposals from both sides of the aisle? Yet when the possibility to listen to a proposal became a reality he quickly brushed it aside calling it a calling it a partisan game and threatened to veto it. This hardly seems like the words of a man serious about bipartisan debate. Instead of using the bill as a springboard for more negotiation he called on the Senate to kill the bill and Harry Reid obliged him.

Harry Reid and Barack Obama have failed to introduce any type of plan whatsoever, but the House did introduce a plan and the Obama regime denounced it sight unseen and without debate. It is now back to square one because the Obama regime was too blinded by ideology to even make an attempt at reconciling this bill, while at the same time claiming that it is the Republicans who are refusing to compromise.

These frauds are trying to have it both ways; they claim the Republicans are unwilling to compromise while killing a Republican sponsored bill without even hinting at trying to compromise on this legislation. It is becoming abundantly clear that Barack Obama is the one who is most unwilling to compromise and it is time to call his bluff.

Gunrunner: Chuck Grassley “suspects” gun control was the real reason for Operation Fast and Furious

July 22, 2011

The position that I–and many others–hold for the real reason behind the government’s botched Operation Fast and Furious is this: The United States government was poised to use the violence at the Mexican border as an excuse to implement strict gun control legislation on law abiding American citizens. Hillary Clinton laid the groundwork for this scheme when she declared that America’s “insatiable appetite” for illegal drugs and inability to stop the sale of guns to Mexican criminals was to blame for the violence at the border. The government then released a false report which stated that 90% of ALL weapons recovered at crime scenes in Mexico and along the border were traced back to the United States. With the lie exposed it was time for the federal government to help the false claim along, so they implemented a scheme which would assure that guns sold in America turned up at crime scenes in Mexico, hence Operation Fast and Furious.

The ranking member of the House Oversight Committee also agrees with this synopsis, at least in part: Charles Grassley is now on record as stating that he believes the federal government initiated this deadly program in part because the Obama regime doesn’t  “like the Second Amendment” and wants to “restrict guns.”

My suspicion is they don’t like the Second Amendment the way it is, and they are going to do everything to hurt guns and restrict guns. So they could have been building a case for that. But I can’t prove that

Senator Grassley admits that he cannot prove it, but he feels as if the Obama regime was trying to build a case for restricting gun ownership on law abiding American citizens. With all of the background information that we have on this issue it seems likely to me that that is exactly what the Obama regime intended, and if Senator Grassley is saying this now we can rest assured that he has much more information on this issue than we do.

I believe that Charles Grassley is sitting on information which would implicate the Obama regime and the true intent of Gunrunner and he is simply waiting for the chance to pounce on this. There is no way that he would come forward with this theory based on a whim when he has been charged with investigating the “Justice” Department, there has to be something there and he is waiting until he has all of the facts before he declares that he KNOWS the Obama regime had a more nefarious reason for handing weapons over to known violent Mexican criminals.

Barack Obama blames the media for Washington’s problems

July 22, 2011

One issue that many of us have with the liberals is their position that everyone is a victim who is not to blame for their own failings; gone is personal responsibility, replaced with permanent victimhood. This has been highlighted by Barack Obama himself when he came out earlier today and blamed the “splintered media” for the partisanship that has ground Washington DC to a halt over the debt ceiling debate.

You’ve got a media that has become much more splintered,” Obama said. “So those of you who are of a Democratic persuasion are only reading The New York Times and watching MSNBC and if you are on the right, then you’re only reading the Wall Street Journal editorial page and watching FoxNews

And if that’s where you get your information, just from one side, if you never even have to hear another argument, then over time you start getting more dug in into your positions

The fact that there are media outlets that are conservative and media outlets that are liberal is nothing new; in fact liberals had a stranglehold on most of the media until the repeal of the “Fairness Doctrine” and the birth of Fox News, but there have always been conservative newspapers and liberal newspapers. This goes all the way back to the 1700’s when people like Benjamin Franklin were creating and publishing newspapers while also writing articles for the same newspapers using aliases to promote their own personal political agenda. So for the president to claim that this is some new phenomenon is completely false. He either is distorting history or is not educated in history.

Gunrunner: Chuck Grassley claims the DOJ may have been involved in “criminal activity”

July 21, 2011

As I wrote about here, Darrell Issa has gone on record as stating that Eric Holder and the department of Justice were involved in obstruction of justice for the department’s unwillingness to provide the Oversight Committee with requested documents related to Operation Gunrunner. He also cited an attempt by Eric Holder to stop the acting head of the ATF, Kenneth Melson, from testifying in front of the Congress as proof that the Obama regime was trying to cover up the role they played in this scandal.

Senator Charles Grassley is now backing up Darrel Issa’s claim:

I think they’re trying to cover up now by not giving us all the information that we want

These two influential members of the House Oversight Committee have now gone on record as stating that Eric Holder is involved in a coverup–the irony of the fact that the man charged with upholding federal law was actively engaged in breaking the law as well as covering it up is not lost on this writer–but Charles Grassley did not stop there.

Senate to vote on “cut, cap, and balance” plan tomorrow

July 21, 2011

It is being reported here that the Senate has scheduled a cloture vote on the House’s “cut, cap, and balance” debt ceiling bill for tomorrow, and this was confirmed by my House Representative Frank Guinta in a live telephone conference call which I participated in earlier today.

Frank Guinta reaffirmed what most of us thought was fact; this bill has basically has no chance of passing the Senate with the 60 votes required to send the bill to the floor for debate and an up or down vote, but he remained hopeful that over 50 Senators would vote in favor of the legislation. Harry Reid’s statement on this bill confirms the notion that this will fail in the senate when he declared that this was the “worst piece of legislation in the history if this country.”  We can debate this asinine statement all we want, but that is not what is at issue here.

Frank Guinta believes that if more than 50 Senators vote in favor of this bill, coupled with a poll he quoted–I forget which one–that found 70% of Americans support a balanced budget amendment as a condition to raising the debt ceiling, that this would send a clear message to the president that there is real support for this legislation among the American people. And that just might be true, but what my congressman is forgetting is the fact that Barack Obama simply does not give a damn what the American people want because he doesn’t feel as if we are smart enough to understand the problem in the first place.

This issue is really starting to heat up and it will be interesting to see if my congressman is right; will there actually be a majority of Senators voting in favor of this proposal? If so my Frank Guinta will be right; a message will be sent to the president that many people in the country actually support this measure, but we have already seen what the president thinks of the American people and their opinion.

Once this bill is pushed aside in the Senate all of the focus will be on the “gang of six” proposal which is making its way through the Senate as I write this and Frank Guinta has assured his constituents during this telephone conference that the House will never vote in favor of such a proposal even if it makes its way through the Senate; they are committed to holding firm on the no new taxes promise which helped bring them to power last year.
