Is ISIS using Bill Clinton in a new recruiting video?

December 21, 2015

During the Democratic debate last Saturday Hillary Clinton made the claim that ISIS was already using Donald Trump in recruiting videos, however fact checkers have been unable to verify this claim. I do not doubt that ISIS will use Donald Trump in recruiting videos but the former Secretary of State’s claim that this is already happening appears to be a lie.

But while we are talking about ISIS recruiting videos it turns out that ISIS, if this video is authentic, is already using Bill Clinton, Barack Obama, and George Bush in a new recruiting video. (With no mention of Donald Trump.) Here it is:

Funny how she forgot to mention this, isn’t it?

NASA admits burning fossil fuel cools the planet

December 21, 2015

For many years we have been told that burning fossil fuels is a major factor in global warming  but according to this story NASA is now admitting that in fact burning fossil fuels actually helps to cool the planet.

  Here is more:

Major theories about what causes temperatures to rise have been thrown into doubt after NASA found the Earth has cooled in areas of heavy industrialisation where more trees have been lost and more fossil fuel burning takes place.

Environmentalists have long argued the burning of fossil fuels in power stations and for other uses is responsible for global warming and predicted temperature increases because of the high levels of carbon dioxide produced – which causes the global greenhouse effect.

While the findings did not dispute the effects of carbon dioxide on global warming, they found aerosols – also given off by burning fossil fuels – actually cool the local environment, at least temporarily.

The research was carried out to see if current climate change models for calculating future temperatures were taking into account all factors and were accurate.

A NASA spokesman said: “To quantify climate change, researchers need to know the Transient Climate Response (TCR) and Equilibrium Climate Sensitivity (ECS) of Earth.

And that is not all, it turns out deforestation also helps reflect sunlight:

CNN anchor admits fact-checkers debunked Hillary Clinton’s claim ISIS is using Donald Trump for recruitment but decides to ignore it

December 20, 2015

Hillary Clinton does not have a great record when it comes to blaming videos for terrorist attacks and I need not remind you of how she and the Obama regime tried to blame a “disgusting” video for the Benghazi attack in order to prove this. But now she is at it again, claiming that jihadists are showing Donald Trump videos to possible recruits in order to get them to join ISIS.

Maybe there is some truth to that statement but as CNN host John Berman admitted, fact-checkers have stated there is no proof to that claim. However he decided to “put that aside” in an apparent attempt to push what now looks like the latest Hillary Clinton lie.

  Here is the video:

The right complains about media bias all the time while the left says media bias does not exist but here we have a CNN anchor willing to ignore what the fact-checkers have found in order to apparently push the agenda of the left and we are supposed to believe there is no agenda here?

December 20th open thread: Trains

December 20, 2015

open-threadHere is the open thread for Sunday, December 20th. Please feel free to post links to interesting articles and to discuss whatever issues arise during the course of the day. Nothing is off-topic here.

This week we covered 12 stories, did you miss any of them? If so there is an easy way to make sure it does not happen again. I understand that all of you are busy and cannot always find the time to check the blog for updates so why not subscribe to America’s Watchtower and receive email updates whenever I write a new post? That is the easiest way to follow the blog to ensure you never miss another post.

In addition to subscribing you can also follow America’s Watchtower on Facebook and Twitter by clicking the links on the right. But you will get more than that for I often post links to articles I probably will not be writing about so it is a great way to keep up with what is happening.

The Twitter widget in the sidebar is fully interactive. This widget updates my tweets in real time and allows you to respond to or retweet my tweets right from the blog. It also allows you to tweet me right from America’s Watchtower. How cool is that! If you do not have a Twitter account what better reason do you need to sign up for one!

This week’s musical selection comes from a band called Porcupine Tree and it is entitled “Trains.” This version is interesting because in the middle of the song Steven Wilson breaks a guitar string and instead of playing on he halts the song to get a new guitar. He then makes sure he gets back into the same place he was before continuing.

DNC restores Bernie Sanders’ access to voter data after he ‘inappropriately’ accessed Hillary Clinton’s database 25 times

December 19, 2015

Yesterday the Democratic National Committee suspended Bernie Sanders from accessing his voter data after they found his campaign had inappropriately accessed Hillary Clinton’s campaign data. This led to Bernie Sanders claiming the DNC was trying to sabotage his campaign and protect Hillary Clinton. He also went on to basically say it was not his fault his campaign did this because there was a glitch in the DNC’s website which allowed him this access so it was actually the committee’s fault.

Today it is being reported that the Democratic National Committee and Bernie Sanders have reached an agreement and the Presidential hopeful now has access to his voter data. Here is more:

By early Saturday morning, however, after discussions with the DNC and a federal judge late Friday, the Sanders campaign said that the DNC had “capitulated” and agreed to restore access to the data.

“We are extremely pleased that the DNC has reversed its outrageous decision to take Sen. Sanders’ data. The information we provided tonight is essentially the same information we already sent them by email on Thursday,” said Jeff Weaver, Sanders’ campaign manager.

Bernie Sanders sues the DNC after being suspended from the national voter database for inappropriately accessing Hillary Clinton’s campaign data

December 18, 2015

Bernie SandersToday was a rather eventful day for Bernie Sanders heading into tomorrow night’s Democratic primary debate to say the least. Earlier today the Democratic National Committee found that members of Bernie Sanders’ campaign staff “inappropriately” accessed and saved Hillary Clinton’s campaign data (there’s that word inappropriately again, we remember it from the IRS targeting scandal) and punished him by taking away his access to the national voter database.

My first reaction was Bernie Sanders thought this type of behavior was normal after witnessing the IRS inappropriately targeting conservatives and accessing confidential voter information while also sharing confidential information with the White House. However Bernie Sanders has admitted the actions of his campaign staff were inappropriate but he is blaming the Democratic National Committee for the breach claiming it was the result of a result of a software error. What is it with these governmental websites? First all of the IRS computers crashed, then the Obamacare website was a disaster on startup, and now this.

Bernie Sanders has now filed suit against the DNC, claiming they are trying to sabotage his campaign. Here is more:

NOAA is using compromised temperature stations to promote global warming

December 17, 2015

A new study is out which shows that because NOAA is using low quality and ill situated compromised temperature stations the 30 year global temperature trend has been overestimated. Here is more:

30 year trends of temperature are shown to be lower, using well-sited high quality NOAA weather stations that do not require adjustments to the data.

This was in AGU’s press release news feed today.

NEW STUDY OF NOAA’S U.S. CLIMATE NETWORK SHOWS A LOWER 30-YEAR TEMPERATURE TREND WHEN HIGH QUALITY TEMPERATURE STATIONS UNPERTURBED BY URBANIZATION ARE CONSIDERED

A new study about the surface temperature record presented at the 2015 Fall Meeting of the American Geophysical Union suggests that the 30-year trend of temperatures for the Continental United States (CONUS) since 1979 are about two thirds as strong as officially NOAA temperature trends.

Using NOAA’s U.S. Historical Climatology Network, which comprises 1218 weather stations in the CONUS, the researchers were able to identify a 410 station subset of “unperturbed” stations that have not been moved, had equipment changes, or changes in time of observations, and thus require no “adjustments” to their temperature record to account for these problems. The study focuses on finding trend differences between well sited and poorly sited weather stations, based on a WMO approved metric Leroy (2010)1for classification and assessment of the quality of the measurements based on proximity to artificial heat sources and heat sinks which affect temperature measurement.

Temperature trend estimates vary according to site classification, with poor siting leading to an overestimate of minimum temperature trends and an underestimate of maximum temperature trends, resulting in particular in a substantial difference in estimates of the diurnal temperature range trends

“The majority of weather stations used by NOAA to detect climate change temperature signal have been compromised by encroachment of artificial surfaces like concrete, asphalt, and heat sources like air conditioner exhausts. This study demonstrates conclusively that this issue affects temperature trend and that NOAA’s methods are not correcting for this problem, resulting in an inflated temperature trend. It suggests that the trend for U.S. temperature will need to be corrected.” He added: “We also see evidence of this same sort of siting problem around the world at many other official weather stations, suggesting that the same upward bias on trend also manifests itself in the global temperature record”.

The above-linked article is quite long and there is allot of information there which I will not copy and paste here but I recommend everybody, especially the global warming alarmists, check it out. You can also check out the report in the link in the block quote above.

NOAA official admits warm December weather is not due to global warming

December 17, 2015

Global_Warming I don’t know how the weather is where you are but here in New Hampshire we have experienced an unusually warm November and December. So warm in fact that I was able to sit outside and read a book during the first week of my recent recovery from surgery, it was absolutely beautiful and I enjoyed (as much as you can enjoy anything during recovery) every minute of it.

In years past we have experienced warm fronts during the Winter and I have always joked that only a liberal can walk outside in New England in January, experience a beautiful 50 degree day and proclaim it is a sign of impending doom because it means we are destroying the planet.

So I have been patiently waiting for the stories to come out about how the days I have been enjoying are proof that global warming is destroying the planet but I have been disappointed because the global warming alarmists have been quiet on this issue.

New poll show support for assault weapons ban is at its lowest level in 20 years

December 16, 2015

assault weaponBefore I get to this post I just want to mention that there is no such thing as an assault weapon, this is just a scary sounding term coined by the left in a propaganda campaign designed to intimidate the American people into giving up their second amendment right a little at a time. As a new poll shows us, which I will get to shortly, this campaign has not worked. This is why the Obama regime has changed the terminology from assault weapons to weapons of war, but let that go for the sake of this post. Here we go:

A new ABC News/Washington Post poll is out which shows us that support for a so-called assault weapons ban is at a 20 year low, in fact less than 50% of those polled support banning so-called assault weapons.

Did Ted Cruz disclose classified information during the Republican debate?

December 16, 2015

Earlier today is was reported on The Hill that Republican establishment Senator, and chair of the Intelligence Committee, Richard Burr, was going to look into whether Ted Cruz disclosed classified information during last night’s Presidential debate.

  Here is more:

A key Senate Republican is looking into whether Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) discussed classified information during Tuesday night’s Republican presidential debate.

“I’m having my staff look at the transcripts of the debate right now,” Sen. Richard Burr (R-N.C.), the chairman of the Intelligence Committee, told reporters. “Any time you deal with numbers … the question is, ‘Is that classified or not?’ Or is there an open source reference to it?”

Cruz raised eyebrows during an exchange with Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) over the National Security Agency’s surveillance program, when he said that the old program covered “20 or 30 percent of phone numbers” while the new program covers roughly 100 percent.

Becca Glover Watkins, Burr’s communications director, suggested on social media that Cruz might have said something he shouldn’t have, though she didn’t specifically reference his comments.

Burr added on Wednesday that while he hadn’t heard Cruz’s comments, “the question had been raised, therefore I asked them to look at it.”
