Donald Trump lies about Ted Cruz’s support for John Roberts again!

February 14, 2016

Back a couple of weeks ago Donald Trump made the absurd claim that Ted Cruz was responsible for giving the American people Obamacare because of his full-throated support for John Roberts when George Bush nominated him as Chief Justice to the Supreme Court. This was either a blatant lie on the part of Donald Trump or it highlighted his ignorance both on the issue of Obamacare and the nomination of John Roberts because as we all know John Roberts was confirmed to the Supreme Court in 2005 while Ted Cruz did not win his election to the Senate until 2012 and was not sworn in until 2013.

Now with the sudden death of Antonin Scalia this has become a hot topic issue during the election season and Donald Trump has doubled-down on this claim. Here is more:

“Let me tell you about appointees: Justice John Roberts gave us Obamacare twice. He could have foiled it twice. He had two votes, went up shockingly, voted in favor of Obamacare. He got there because Ted Cruz pushed him like wild. And by the way, Jeb Bush pushed him through the brother,” Trump said on “This Week.”

”So Cruz shouldn’t be talking. Because that was among the worst appointments I have ever seen. We have Obamacare because of Jeb Bush, Ted Cruz, George Bush.”

After having made this false claim once one has to believe that somebody in the Trump campaign must have spoken to him about the history of this issue so one can only come to the conclusion that Donald Trump is purposely lying about this. At this point in time nobody of note has questioned him on this and most likely he knows that nobody will which is why he feels comfortable lying about it.

Sunday, February 14th open thread: ‘I am the Highway’

February 14, 2016

open-thread Here is the open thread for Sunday, February 14th. Please feel free to post links to interesting articles and to discuss whatever issues arise during the course of the day. Nothing is off-topic here.

Last week we covered 14 stories, did you miss any of them? If so there is an easy way to make sure it does not happen again. I understand that all of you are busy and cannot always find the time to check the blog for updates so why not subscribe to America’s Watchtower and receive email updates whenever I write a new post? That is the easiest way to follow the blog to ensure you never miss another post.

In addition to subscribing you can also follow America’s Watchtower on Facebook and Twitter by clicking the links on the right. But you will get more than that for I often post links to articles I probably will not be writing about so it is a great way to keep up with what is happening.

The Twitter widget in the sidebar is fully interactive. This widget updates my tweets in real time and allows you to respond to or retweet my tweets right from the blog. It also allows you to tweet me right from America’s Watchtower. How cool is that! If you do not have a Twitter account what better reason do you need to sign up for one!

Here is Audioslave performing “I am the Highway” live. On the surface the song seems to be about running away from either an ex-girlfriend or bad people but some of the lyrics in this song make me think there is more to it. The opening line about “pearls and swine” seems to be a reference to Matthew 7:6. I have an interpretation of many of these lyrics but I would like to hear your interpretation before I divulge mine.

The State Department releases another batch of Hillary Clinton’s emails: 84 are classified and 3 are secret

February 13, 2016

The State Department has released the latest batch of Hillary Clinton’s emails and keeping with a government tradition the bad news was released over a holiday weekend. The newly released emails contain 84 which have now been deemed classified and 3 which have been deemed secret.

  Here is more:

More than 15 percent of the latest batch of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s emails released Saturday contain classified information, with three of the messages being labeled “secret” — continuing to add to the questions surrounding her email use.

One of the messages is an extensive missive from David Satterfield, a top U.S. diplomat to Egypt, who told top officials in both the White House and State Department about negotiations in the Sinai. The entire contents of the messages are now deemed “secret,” though there is no indication they were marked as such at the time. The message was forwarded to Mrs. Clinton by top aide Jacob Sullivan.

Although there is no indication the emails were marked as such when they were either sent or received it does not matter because when you are dealing with secret negotiations with another nation the emails are considered born classified and it is presumed that the head of the State Department is smart enough to make that determination on his or her own.

Yet Hillary Clinton’s defense remains to be that the emails were not marked classified therefor she has done nothing wrong. If she is being honest with her defense it means that she was not smart enough to realize which emails would fall into the born classified category and  thusly she cannot be trusted with secrets of national security at the Presidential level…

Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia dead at 79

February 13, 2016

I just sat down at the computer to learn that Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia has died at the age of 79. There will be plenty of time to discuss the political ramifications of this news but, unlike some of our friends on the left, I am not going to politicize this today.

Today I offer my thoughts and my prayers to Justice Scalia’s family and friends.

Judge Napolitano claims the FBI now has leverage to flip Hillary Clinton’s aides in the email scandal

February 12, 2016

We now have learned that as a result of Hillary Clinton using her homebrew email server to conduct ALL State Department business that at least 12, and as many as 30, email accounts had access to above top secret emails and that many of them did not have the security clearance to view these emails. A clear mishandling, in my opinion, of top secret information and as such is a felony.

In my post on this issue earlier this week I included a video of an interview with Judge Napolitano which I feel deserves a post of its own and so this is it.

In the following video Judge Napolitano claims that because of this Hillary Clinton’s aides now face indictment which means the FBI now has leverage which can be used to flip the former Secretary of State’s aides in order for them to avoid jail time. Here is the video:

If this is true the only real question left to be answered is whether or not Hillary Clinton’s aides would be willing to go to jail in her stead. Of course there is always the possibility that Hillary Clinton would make their silence worthwhile, if you know what I mean. And of course these aides will also have to consider the fact that many people who have information on the Clinton’s seem to die mysterious deaths…

Donald Trump threatens to sue Ted Cruz if he does not stop the negative ads

February 12, 2016

donald trump A few times in the past on America’s Watchtower I have written about how when a conservative calls out a liberal on his or her record the liberal will respond by saying they were attacked by the conservative. As if somehow calling out a person for their record is an attack, shouldn’t the person in question be proud of their record?

Well now Donald Trump, who I maintain is a liberal, is acting like a liberal by threatening in a Tweet to sue Ted Cruz over his citizenship if he does not stop the negative attacks. You can view the Tweet here if you so choose. So what are in the so-called negative ads that have Donald Trump upset? He called him out on his record. Here is more:

Trump accused Cruz on Friday of running a nasty campaign after the Texas senator unleashed brutal attacks on Trump’s record on abortion, gay marriage and Obamacare on the campaign trail here. Unless Cruz stops, Trump said, he has “standing to sue” Cruz over being born in Canada.

Report: up to 30 aides handled top secret information which was found on Hillary Clinton’s email server

February 11, 2016

The news just keeps getting worse and worse for Hillary Clinton in regard to her email scandal. Back on January 29th it was reported the State Department had admitted that the Obama regime had determined that some of the emails found on Hillary Clinton’s homebrew email server were so sensitive they could never be released to the public even if they were redacted, this information was above top secret. You can read about it here if you missed the story.

And now it is being reported in this story that at least 12, and possibly as many as 30, people who were either her aides or people working for them also handled this information. Here is more:

At least a dozen email accounts handled the “top secret” intelligence that was found on Hillary Clinton’s server and recently deemed too damaging for national security to release, a U.S. government official close to the review told Fox News.

The official said the accounts include not only Clinton’s but those of top aides – including Cheryl Mills, Huma Abedin, Jake Sullivan and Philippe Reines – as well as State Department Under Secretary for Management Patrick F. Kennedy and others.

A second source not authorized to speak on the record said the number of accounts involved could be as high as 30 and reflects how the intelligence was broadly shared, replied to, and copied to individuals using the unsecured server.

Donald Trump: ‘I’m very capable of changing to anything I want to change to’

February 11, 2016

The biggest problem that I have with Donald Trump is that he has changed his positions on several issues now that he is running for the Presidency as a Republican. I found this video over at Right Scoop in which Donald Trump mentions how easy it is for him to change into whatever he wants to be and I thought it needed to be shared.

He was talking about one specific issue when he made that comment, however he said as the campaign moved along he would be changing and it makes me wonder what exactly he means by change. He has already changed once from a liberal into a conservative, is it too hard to imagine that as President he would turn back into a liberal?

This is eerily reminiscent of the 2012 campaign when Mitt Romney’s political adviser Eric Fehrnstrom compared the former Massachusetts governor to an Etch-A-Sketch.

Exit poll shows that only 5% of New Hampshire Democrats believe Hillary Clinton is ‘honest and trustworthy’

February 10, 2016

In what should be extremely troubling news for the Clinton campaign exit polls reveal that in New Hampshire only 5% of those Democrats surveyed believe that the former Secretary of State is “honest and trustworthy” compared to 93% who feel Bernie Sanders is the same.

  Here is more:

News’ exit poll reveals that only 5% of New Hampshire’s Democrats say Hillary Clinton is “honest and trustworthy.” Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders, on the other hand, garnered that label from 93% of Democrats.

Opinions about Clinton’s honesty seem to be getting worse as the campaign moves forward:

Perceptions of Clinton on the question of honesty are worse in New Hampshire than they were in Iowa, where 10 percent picked her in an exit poll. Sanders was picked by 83 percent of those asked in Iowa about who is more honest.

The latest findings suggest that the FBI investigation of over a thousand classified emails on Clinton’s homebrewed server has raised doubts in the public mind as to Clinton’s honesty. Other Clinton problems that might effect voters’ perceptions of her include the questionable dealings of the Clinton Foundation and her role in the response to the Benghazi attack.

Chris Christie and Carly Fiorina drop out of the Republican primary

February 10, 2016

In my post this morning covering the results of the New Hampshire primary I stated I believed Ben Carson and Carly Fiorina would drop out of the race while Chris Christie was too pigheaded to drop out and would continue to South Carolina.

There is still no news on Ben Carson but Carly Fiorina has dropped out of the race. Here is more:

“While I suspend my candidacy today, I will continue to travel this country and fight for those Americans who refuse to settle for the way things are and a status quo that no longer works for them,” Fiorina said in a statement announcing her campaign suspension.

Fiorina placed seventh in the New Hampshire primary Tuesday with 4 percent of the vote and seventh in Iowa with 2 percent of the vote.

But the bigger news today is that Chris Christie has also dropped out of the race:

Christie dropped out after finishing sixth in New Hampshire with 7.4 percent of the vote.

Christie had laid the groundwork for a hard push in New Hampshire long before the race kicked into high gear, but his candidacy was eclipsed by a large Republican primary field that sucked away voters from all angles.

Chris Christie put all of his hopes in New Hampshire hoping for a good showing which would maybe gain him some momentum moving forward and after a sixth place finish he realized the game was over and he did the right thing. It will be interesting to see who these former candidates decide to endorse…if they endorse anyone.
